Schools go through a lot of supplies. Paper being the lions share of it. All kinds of paper gets used for all kinds of reasons. Science Fairs, projects, art class, and just general doodling by students. That’s why I decided to use professional visitor passes and school labels.
Several years ago, whenever a parent would come to school to visit their child during lunch, or participate in classes, they would be issues a paper guest pass. Same with hall-passes for students. For every parental visit, or student using the restroom, there would be a thrown away piece of paper. We all know how these can add up.
The average person in the United States creates 4.6 pounds of garbage a day by most estimates. Granted, a paper pass doesn’t add to a lot of that percentage, but when you’re measuring by a school of 2,000 or more, and each day, that adds up quickly! Having professionally printed, heavy duty and durable visitor passes and hall passes has no doubt cut down on garbage at our school to a great degree.
It’s not just the environmental impact that all the waste can create, but the financial one. It’s no secret that schools aren’t as well funded as they probably should be. Spending all that money on material that quickly ends up in the recycle bin is just bad business. We really considered it an investment when we got our professional labels created.
The added benefit of having these awesome school labels is the ‘cool’ factor! Way better than a pink slip of paper! We’ve opted to have the school mascot printed on visitor passes, and another style of the same mascot on the hall passes. The school colors are proudly beaming from the high quality material, and we’ve yet to find one in the trash!
The students are big fans of the labels as well. We’ve had T shirts printed with the same logos and mascots because they were such a big hit!
Another benefit of these labels is security. Paper passes are much easier to copy and forge. We all know how important school safety and security is, especially these days. Having reusable passes and labels makes it much easier. Especially since they can be numbered, so we know if there are any missing.
In short, having our visitor passes and school labels professionally made was a great decision. It cuts down on waste, saves money, and are much nicer for the students to look at. We highly recommend them!
